Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeast season 3

Its been a while and while I used to let that stress me out but now I much more enjoy going at my own pace. So please enjoy these thoughts that I’ve been sitting on since I’ve watched it.

KATAOW final season was amazing, but in a different way from seasons one and two. Seasons one and two were very much about exploring the world, we meet new characters and explore the world. Its opening up for us and we’re learning so much about everything. But season three is very much about bringing things to a close. This is exemplified by the fact that we’re mostly in one location for a lot of the season. It gives this season a chance to slow down and really deal with bringing humans and mutes together.

All throughout the show Kipo’s positivity and openness allows others to come together and change. In season three Kipo’s ideals are put to the ultimate test. While she had befriended the different mute gangs over the first two seasons it doesn’t mean that the mutes were willing to work together to stop a common enemy. It takes a lot of work on Kipo’s part to get everyone to work together and once all of the mutes are willing to work together it takes a long time to get the humans to come to trust the mutes, apologize to them, and live together on the surface. Kipo has to do a lot of what I would consider diplomacy (or a form of it).

I loved watching Kipo’s ideals get tested and her having to convince people around to her side and how she was willing to listen.

Her relationship with Scarlemange continues to grow in this season as we watch her help him integrate into the community and see him come around. We see the others have faith in her and her way of thinking. But we also see it fail. We see Kipo make bad decisions and watch people get hurt because of that and then we see how Kipo deals with the fallout.

Kipo and Emilia’s relationship is also very interesting. They are polar opposites. Kipo is all about coming together and working together to build a better future Emilia is all about control and regression. Emilia is mean and manipulative and has no one on her side that stands as her equal. She has no friends around her, no family around her, she leads through anger and fear. Kipo, who believes in giving people chances (a lot of chances) to change, Emilia doesn’t and she doesn’t like it when people change their minds, evident in how nasty she was to Zane, someone who was her right hand in a sense, when he mentioned that maybe not all mutes were bad. Kipo and Emilia’s final confrontation was amazing to watch and the ending was so satisfying for me!

I could write more about this show, but I don’t want to spoil it just yet in case anyone still hasn’t seen it (I’m planning, eventually, to write about all 3 seasons at once).

There are so many other little things about this season that I loved; the showcase of Wolf’s development, learning about Dave and Benson’s backstory, Benson and Troy’s relationship and its development, Kipo spending her time with her family. There are a million things for me to talk about but I shall leave it here for now.

Thank you for reading!
